A Letter from the Editor
When we started building the EventSource blog, we knew we were on to something special. Right from the beginning, a solid stream of stunning real weddings were being submitted to us by some amazingly talented special event vendors. As time went on, however, it became clear to us that we could use our platform to work toward and achieve something so much more than just showcasing pretty pictures...
Our guiding principle has always been simple: connect local vendors with local couples who are in the process of planning their special day. We love showcasing beautiful, inspirational content; however, a real wedding filled to the brim with stunning images ultimately serves far less purpose if the talent behind those photos aren’t likely to be recognized or utilized by our readers. You’ve undoubtedly noticed that EventSource publishes purely local content produced and designed by local vendors like you - vendors that our readers will actually recognize, trust, and work with!
We also strive to publish content that is representative of the diverse landscape of individuals who make up the GTA. We wholeheartedly encourage submissions for weddings that celebrate all walks of life. Diversity and inclusion is very important to the EventSource team, and we work hard to source material that showcases everything we love about this great city. We’d love to see what’s in your portfolio!
*Covid-19 Update* With a global pandemic putting a halt to large weddings/events for the majority of 2020, there has been a big influx of micro weddings and elopements. If you have a few of these mini events under your belt, we’d love for you to submit them as well!
Frequently Asked Questions
We accept real weddings as well as styled shoot submissions.
Photographers, wedding vendors and couples alike are welcome to submit weddings to the EventSource Blog! If you are a photographer, please be sure to have approval from the couple. If you are a couple, please be sure to have approval from the photographer. If you are another wedding vendor, please ensure that you have permission from the couple and the photographer. In all cases, please ensure you have all the photos necessary for a full submission
As far as online publications go, if your submission has already been published by other local publications, we will not publish it. If your wedding has already been featured in print, then it is okay to submit to be featured on the EventSource blog; however, please be sure that you double check the exclusivity terms from the other publication prior to submitting to us.
We are humbled to receive a healthy handful of wedding submissions everyday, and our blog team works hard to get back to submitters as quickly as possible. The average time it takes for the team to review submissions and notify vendors is currently 3-5 weeks.
Our content schedule is planned out several weeks in advance, so you should not expect it to be published right away. We also try to tailor the blog to each season/what’s trending as best we can, so timing can vary. In any event, the blog team will reach out once the publishing date and details are confirmed, likely close to the date of publication. We will also reach out once the blog is published with all the links to the relevant posts.
When couples are checking out our blog, we find that they respond best to all those lovely detail shots, so please include as many of those as possible! We’re also looking to tell the story of the day, so for real wedding submissions, please include photos of the couple getting ready, the first look and photo session, the ceremony, the cake, the first dance, etc. While you are welcome to submit black and white shots, we’ll require the majority to be in colour and of course, all photos must not be watermarked.
Where possible, we prefer to publish weddings that take place in and around the GTA; however, we are still open to accepting weddings that have taken place all across Ontario. In order to publish these weddings, we’d require the majority of the vendors involved to be Toronto/GTA based
Under normal circumstances, we require submissions from the past year. We understand that 2020 likely threw you for a loop, so for the time being, we are accepting weddings that have taken place pre-covid.
